CareZone alternative
Looking for a CareZone alternative?
Reviewed
CareZone no longer exists. Walmart bought its technology in 2020, and CareZone accounts that weren't moved to Walmart's Wellness app by January 31, 2023 were deactivated and their data removed. KeptWell does the family side of that job now: one free, private circle where the AI reads every record you add and keeps the medication list.

Why CareZone families pick KeptWell
After CareZone, start from the paperwork
If your CareZone list is gone, don't type it in again from memory.
Rebuild the medication list from the papers
A list typed in by hand is only as good as the last change someone remembered. Start this one from the documents instead: upload the latest discharge summary and visit notes, or connect MyChart or Apple Health. KeptWell pulls out the medications they name and keeps each change with its date, so the list comes from what the doctors wrote.
If you moved to Wellness, start with that PDF
Families who moved CareZone into Walmart's Wellness app could download their data as a ZIP until January 31, 2024. Inside is a PDF with the medication lists and journal entries. Upload that PDF to KeptWell like any other document and it gets read the same way. Missed the download? Walmart's Help Center still takes a formal request for a copy.
The same helpers, and now the records explain themselves
CareZone let you share a profile with as many people as you wanted, and so does KeptWell: each sibling signs in as themselves. The difference is what they find. CareZone's Photos and Files stored discharge papers and photos of documents for you to open when you needed them. In KeptWell every report is read when it's added, so your brother sees what the scan found without asking.
Your records can leave with you any time
Records that live only inside one app go when the app does. In KeptWell you can export the whole circle as a ZIP whenever you like, with the original files inside. KeptWell's pricing page also promises at least 60 days' notice, and an export, before anything that's free stops being free.

Common questions
- What happened to CareZone?
- Walmart bought CareZone's technology and hired its product and engineering teams in June 2020. Keeping CareZone data meant connecting it to Walmart's Wellness app before January 31, 2023, the day Wellness retired. Walmart's Help Center says CareZone accounts that were never connected were deactivated and their personal data was removed from its servers.
- Can I still get my CareZone data back?
- Only if you moved it to Walmart Wellness. For CareZone accounts that were never moved, Walmart says it can't provide the data. For Wellness accounts, the online download ended January 31, 2024, but Walmart's Help Center article "Wellness App Data Export" explains how to request a formal copy, including as someone's personal representative.
- Is there still a CareZone app?
- No. As of October 2026 there's no CareZone app from Care Zone Inc. in the US App Store, and carezone.com still shows its old home page. Apps with similar names, like Carezon+, come from other developers. If an AI answer or an old article pointed you to CareZone, it's out of date.
- Does KeptWell have medication reminders like CareZone did?
- No. KeptWell doesn't send dose or refill reminders. It keeps the medication list and every change to it, and whoever gives a dose can log it in the journal with the time.
- How hard is it to switch from CareZone to KeptWell?
- There's no importer, so you start from files. If you have Walmart's Wellness export, upload its PDF. Then add the latest discharge summary, visit notes and lab reports, or connect the patient's MyChart (where the health system has turned that on) or Apple Health. The AI reads and sorts each one as it arrives. Then invite the family.
- Is KeptWell free?
- Yes. It's free today, with every feature and no limit on how many family members join. It shows no ads and never sells family data. Its pricing page promises at least 60 days of notice, and an export of everything, before anything free stops being free.
Add the last discharge summary and see what comes back
Upload one document from the last hospital stay or visit, and see it explained in plain English with the medications pulled out. KeptWell is free today, for the whole family.
