ianacare alternative
Looking for an ianacare alternative?
Reviewed
Without an employer or health plan paying for it, what you get from ianacare is its free organizer: a shared calendar, help requests, medication reminders and its AI, iana. The Care Navigator comes only through an employer, a health plan, a membership group or Medicare's GUIDE dementia program. KeptWell has no paid side and no eligibility check, and its AI reads every medical record your family adds.

Why families pick KeptWell
Whatever your benefits cover, someone has to read the records
KeptWell doesn't ask who your employer is, what insurance your parent has or what the diagnosis is.
No employer benefit? You're on ianacare's free side
Without ianacare PLUS you still get its organizer: the calendar, help requests, medication reminders, the care log and iana. What you don't get is the Care Navigator. KeptWell doesn't split into a free side and a paid side. Every family gets every feature, and we promise at least 60 days' notice and an export before anything free stops being free.
On Medicare Advantage, GUIDE isn't open to you
ianacare's GUIDE route is Medicare's dementia program, and its eligibility page is specific: a dementia diagnosis confirmed by a clinician, traditional Medicare Part A and B, and living in a private residence. People on Medicare Advantage, in a nursing home or memory care unit, or in hospice aren't eligible, and there's no private-pay option right now. KeptWell doesn't ask about any of it.
Your log goes to the navigator. Where do the papers go?
In ianacare, what you note in the Quick log, like mood, sleep or a medication, is shared with your care navigator, if your plan includes one. Its help center lists no place for the discharge summary, the neurologist's note or the MRI report. In KeptWell those are the point. Each one is read when it's added, and each person's private chat answers from them and shows the document behind the answer. It explains; it doesn't diagnose.
Questions for the visit, drafted from the records
Before an appointment, KeptWell drafts questions from what the recent records say, like a new lab result or a medication that changed, and adds them after the ones your family wrote. Take the list in, check off what gets answered, and record the visit, so the sibling who couldn't come can read what the doctor said.

Common questions
- Is ianacare free?
- Its Caregiver Organizer is. ianacare's help center says it's free to download and free for anyone you invite to your support team. ianacare PLUS, which adds a Care Navigator, comes through participating employers, health plans and membership organizations, and through Medicare's GUIDE program for dementia, at no cost to families who qualify. ianacare doesn't publish a price for PLUS.
- Does ianacare keep medical records?
- Its help center describes the app as help with coordinating "the non-medical care of your loved one," and as of October 2026 it doesn't list uploading, storing or reading medical records. You can add a photo to an update. In KeptWell the records are the point: upload a PDF or a photo of a page and it's read and explained.
- Does KeptWell have a care navigator?
- No, KeptWell has no staff navigator. Each person in the circle has a private AI chat that answers from the patient's records and shows the document it used. It explains what the records say; it doesn't diagnose.
- How hard is it to switch from ianacare to KeptWell?
- There's no importer from ianacare, and the records don't need one: start from the papers. Upload the latest discharge summary, visit notes and lab reports, or connect the patient's MyChart (where the health system has turned that on) or Apple Health from their iPhone. KeptWell pulls out the medications the records name and keeps each change with its date. Then invite the same people who were on your ianacare team.
- Can the whole family use KeptWell for free?
- Yes. There's no limit on how many people join a circle, every feature is free today, and KeptWell shows no ads and never sells family data.
