How long does Sharp HealthCare take to send records?
Sharp says patient record requests may take up to 15 days. HIPAA gives them up to 30 days. Under HIPAA’s right of access (45 CFR § 164.524), they must act within 30 days, with one possible 30-day extension.
Does Sharp HealthCare charge for medical records?
Portal copies are free. A charge of about $6.50 may apply to other patient copies. HIPAA limits any fee to a reasonable, cost-based charge for copying and postage.
